Camp Experience

Orientation
Orientation is held at Wayne State University where students learn about the school and are led in a series of team building exercises.

Day 1: All About the University
A campus tour (MSU or UofM depending on the camp location) is followed by presentations from an admissions representative as well as a student panel describing the experiences of being a college student.

Day 2: What Goes in the Business Plan
Presentations from business professionals go over the basics to creating a business including marketing, finances, and legal aspects.

Day 3: Creating the Business Plan
Six member business teams led by a business professional "coach" bring the business plans to life.

Day 4: Presentations and Awards Luncheon
Each team presents to a panel of business professional judges who rank the business plans.

The best thing about the camp was the experience, also making and meeting new people and friends. The motivational speakers were very good; they gave me more insight on what I want to do and how to do it... I like the fact that they really care about our future and never gave up on us.

New Detroit's Camp Enterprise challenges Detroit area students that have an interest in business. Started in 2003 as a one-day camp, Camp Enterprise has evolved into a four-day camp held each summer at Michigan State University and the University of Michigan. The Camp experience empowers young people with leadership skills, college preparation, and a life changing team business planning experience.

The Camp is targeted to rising juniors or seniors that have demonstrated an interest in business. At Camp, the students are immersed in a highly competitive learning environment with other students from the Detroit area. They are taught by business professionals from a variety of disciplines interested in helping young people learn about business. In the end, the experience brings out the very best in the students.
